The World is changing. Humanity faces increasing depletion of energy and material resources and an increasing number of natural disasters. This requires new technical solutions for construction of new and reconstruction and modernization of existing structures. Concrete is gradually becoming a building material with a high potential for such new technical solutions meeting new requirements, leading to the necessary reduction of environmental impacts and consequent improvement of social and economic conditions. The lecture will present
implementation of sustainability approach into development and design of concrete structures using principles specified in a new fib ModelCode 2020 (MC2020). It could represent contribution to solution of Sustainability Development Goals specified by United Nations in 2015 as a plan of action up to 2030.
